    • Prairie's Edge Casino, 5616 Prairie's Edge Lane, Granite Falls, MN

Rodney & I will be hosting a rally on June 15-18, 2023 at Prairie's Edge Casino, 5616 Prairie's Edge Lane, Granite Falls, MN. I have 20 sites blocked for our group. They are 75' pull thru sites with a cement pad, each site has 30 & 50 amp electric, Wi-Fi, picnic table & fire ring. The rates are Sunday-Thursday, $40 a day. Friday & Saturday are $50 a day.  There were 6 sites already booked in this area, but the other 20 spots are ours. They will hold our sites until May 15, 2023, but if you know you'll be attending, reserving early will help them & us, if these 20 spots fill up quickly!  You can call & reserve your site with a credit card, but you will not be charged until you check in.  You can cancel up to 24 hours before your arrival date. To make your reservation, please call Eric at 866-293-2121 extension 6043; if he doesn’t answer, leave him a voicemail and he’ll call you back.

**UPDATED** If you call the casino to get your reservations before the campground officially opens in mid-April, give the person who answers the phone this information: ask them for the sites reserved under 'Brenda Gens GMC' and that will bring up our reserved spots. They will then update one site from Brenda's name to your name and get your information.

As of 1-18-2023 there were 13 sites available**

I have the shelter reserved also, which has electric & tables. They have restrooms, showers & laundry.  A convenience store with gas, propane, coffee & snacks.  There is a shuttle that runs from the campground to the casino. The casino has 160 rooms, which we thought would be great for any of our members who no longer own a GMC or are unable to bring their coach.  The campground manager did say that if you are interested in staying in a room, it would be best if you made your room reservations as soon as possible.  The casino also has two lounges & three restaurants.

We will be touring the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum by Granite Falls on Saturday, June 17, which is located 2 miles from the campground. Fagen Fighters WWII Museum is home to a pristine collection of fully operational, active aircraft and vehicles from World War II. Also featured are fine art, bronze sculptures, interactive multimedia displays, and an ever-growing library. The facility is designed as a self-guided experience (but we will have a tour guide) and gives a rare look into the lives and legacy of the Greatest Generation. The Fagen Fighters WWII Museum is a showcase of some of the most significant aircraft and ground equipment in that epic conflict. Most importantly, it is a tribute to the men and women of The Greatest Generation whose incredible sacrifices during that time shaped the freedom and liberty we enjoy today. Our mission is to preserve the memory of the heroes of WWII, promote patriotism in today’s Americans, and inspire tomorrow’s leaders to study and apply history’s lessons. Through our exhibits, programs, and facilities, we hope to instill in all ages the curiosity and desire to learn more about this critical time in the history of the United States.

Check out their website for more information:

    Fagen Fighters WWII Museum

While on the way home to Fagen Fighters WWII Museum in Granite Falls, Minnesota, from Beatrice, Nebraska, on March 28, 2021, Scott Guyette filmed our Warbirds together for the first time.

Friday, June 15, 1:00 p.m.  For those who are interested, we will be touring the MN Machinery Museum, Hanley Falls, MN, which is 10 miles from our campsite. The museum features five large buildings (26,000 sq ft) on a beautiful six-acre site. The main 2 story building used to be a school house. Its mission is to recapture a century of stories about farm life. Implements, tools, tractors and gas engines in mint condition along with rural art help you look back to an era when neighbors worked together to harvest their crops, raise barns and build a better life for their families. Four large buildings are filled with beautifully restored gas engines and tractors dating back to 1912. The director wanted me to say that it's not just for the men as they have display rooms of kitchens, parlors, quilts & bedrooms.  The museum is handicapped accessible.

I've spoken to the museum director and we will have a guided tour that afternoon.

We hope to have the breakfasts, social hours & meal times in the upcoming April newsletter.
