News From Da’ Prez; Lucy Weidner
Greetings and salutations!!  Hope everyone had a safe and healthy summer.  Can you believe it’s September already?  Larry and I remember that the weather was always a factor when school started, too warm!!  Returned home from a great trip to see our daughter’s family in Vancouver, Canada.  We had  a  lovely time.  But, now back to reality!  Larry’s back at work on the coach…he finished the ceiling and felt good about finally putting something BACK IN instead of taking things out!
GMCMI and the Amana Colonies are coming up fast and I’m excited that the Greater Midwest Classics will be able to help host this event.  The Midwest has a lot to offer and I hope that people take time to do some sightseeing in the area.  I feel good that we have things settled for helping with parking, hosting a fun brunch for the ladies, being able to sell some great items at the flea market, and having our fall meeting at the same time. I’ve asked Kim to reserve a room for us for Monday, September 24 @ 6:00 PM for our meeting and potluck. Midge Glenna and her helpers, will be doing stack ups for dinner/potluck, so we should plan on bringing something that goes with that meal.  The trivets are finished and are beautiful.  Please remember to bring any Dr. Seuss items you have for the ladies social, your fleece for blankets, books, movies, DVD’s etc. for the book exchange and your items for decorating the coach area.  We also need to really show our support for Kim’s idea of decorating our coach areas so we need lights, scarecrows, pumpkins, dried corn, or any other fall decorations to highlight our area.  The GMC Greater Midwest Classics theme is “OCTOBERFEST”.  The RV lot sizes are 75 feet x 30 feet.  If anyone has clothes, bib overalls, flannel shirts, boots, hats, etc. that can be used for scarecrows, please bring them.  I’m excited to see how this will all come together.
As for after the GMCMI rally in the Amanas, Larry and I will be heading right home so he can finish the coach for our winter travels and before it gets too cold.  He’ll be getting a new dashboard delivered to him at Amana, so that has to go in before we can put everything else in!!  I’m not sure if he sees a light at the end of the tunnel or not, but this little break we took helped both of our attitudes!!  Just more stories to share.
Now, on to the holiday party.  We’ve decided to do a theater event at the Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts, 205 Main Street in Menomonie, WI on Saturday, November 3rd, 2012.  We will be having dinner at the theater beforehand.  Social hour starts at 5:30 pm with dinner to follow at 6:00 pm.  Dinner will be $20.00 per person and will be catered by one of our fine dining restaurants, Zanzibar.  The show we will be seeing will be Always Patsy Cline and will star Colleen Raye, a local well-known actress.
Tickets for the theater are $19.00/ per person for seniors, otherwise it is $22.00/ per person.  All prices include tip, tax and 10% group discount.  So far I have 25 folks signed up for this event, but if others find they can join us, please let me know. We’ll pray for good weather and good health!!  I’ve set aside a block of tickets for us, so when you call the Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts, tell them you’re with the GMC Motorhome group and they can put us all together.  The box office hours are Tuesday – Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  Phone number is 715-235-0001, Ext. 100.  You cannot order on line for group tickets..
